ABOUT ALAN LYNCH

Piano work guided by the player’s experience.

I’m a piano technician and a professional musician. I care about the pitch of an instrument, and equally about the way it responds under your hands.

How I approach the work

I’ve worked in piano technology for 12 years, serving families, teachers, performers, schools, churches, colleges and dealers. I started Seattle Piano Service to give each instrument careful attention and its owner a clear explanation of what matters now and what can wait.

A piano can be in tune and still feel uneven, sound harsh or make certain passages harder than they should be. My work spans routine maintenance and the deeper keyboard, action and tonal adjustments that help address those problems.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master of Music in performance. My musical work as an organist and music director informs the way I listen and the questions I ask about a player’s goals.

THE GOAL

“I want you to understand your piano better—and enjoy playing it more.”

Whether the answer is a routine tuning, a small repair or a longer-term plan, I’ll meet the instrument where it is.
